Ferst Readers Henry Count's Annual Spring Luncheon - Presented by Renasant Bank

More than 250 guests filled the room, gathering around 25 beautifully designed tables—each one inspired by a children’s book and each one telling a story of its own.

But this wasn’t just a luncheon.

It was a room full of imagination, generosity, and purpose—all coming together to support the next generation of readers in Henry County.

Where Books Came to Life

One of the most unforgettable elements of the afternoon was the creativity poured into each table.

These weren’t simple centerpieces. They were experiences.

Each table invited guests into a different story—some playful, some elegant, some deeply personal—and all were created with intention.

A few stood out in especially memorable ways:

  • Toy Story brought energy and joy to life in the most delightful way. The hosts fully

embraced the theme—dressing in character and creating a table that felt like stepping right into Andy’s room. It was immersive, playful, and impossible not to smile at.

  • Alice in Wonderland was stunning—elegant, whimsical, and beautifully detailed. It felt like stepping into a magical tea party, with every element thoughtfully curated.

  • Outer Space / “Mae Among the Stars” delivered a bold and inspiring display filled with planets, astronauts, and a sense of wonder. It reflected the message of dreaming big and reaching beyond what feels possible.

  • “Grace for President” created a vibrant, patriotic table full of red, white, and blue, celebrating leadership, voice, and possibility in a way that felt both fun and meaningful.

  • Johnny Appleseed offered a warm, grounded nod to American folklore—simple, thoughtful, and rooted in the kind of storytelling that spans generations.

  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other early childhood themes brought color, texture, and playful design that reflected the joy and curiosity of young readers.

  • “Our Gorgeous Baby,” created by Deb Watkins, was one of the most heartfelt tables in the room. Celebrating her role as a first-time great-grandmother, it was a joyful reminder of how books are woven into family moments and memories.

  • One of the most visually striking displays, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Butterfly Tree, was absolutely breathtaking—symbolizing care, growth, and transformation in a way that beautifully aligned with their mission.

Across all 25 tables, the creativity was undeniable. More importantly, each one told a story about what books mean—to individuals, to families, and to a community.

A Community That Shows Up

The room was filled with parents, educators, business leaders, and community supporters—all gathered for one shared purpose:

to put books into the hands of children.

There was a genuine sense of connection throughout the room—not just attendance, but investment; not just presence, but participation.

A Voice That Brought It All Together

Keynote speaker Carmen Agra Deedy brought the room together in a way that only a true storyteller can.

With humor that had the audience laughing out loud and stories that made you lean in and listen closely, she reminded everyone why this work matters.

Stories shape us. And when children have access to books, they gain access to possibility.

The Sponsors Who Made It Possible

Events like this do not happen without strong community partners.

A special thank you to Renasant Bank, the Legacy of Literacy Presenting Sponsor, for leading the way.

We also extend our gratitude to key sponsors and partners, including:

  • Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

  • Rotary Club of Henry County

  • Kiwanis Club of Henry County

  • Piedmont Henry

  • Edward Jones

  • Snapping Shoals EMC

  • Griffin Insurance

  • Southern Grace Hospice

…and the many table sponsors and community supporters who brought their time, creativity, and generosity to the room.

Each played a role in making this event truly meaningful.

Why It Matters

Every book placed in a child’s hands opens a door.

A door to imagination. A door to confidence. A door to opportunity.

Ferst Readers of Henry County is committed to opening those doors—again and again—for children across our community.

This Is What That Impact Looks Like in Real Life

“My children love getting their books in the mail. They ask to read every night.”— Ferst Readers Parent

Looking Ahead

If this year’s Spring Luncheon proved anything, it is this:

When a community comes together around a shared purpose, the impact is real—and it grows.

We are already looking ahead with excitement to what next year will bring.

Be Part of the Story

There is always room for more voices in a story like this.

Because the next chapter is already being written—and you can be part of it.
